A Florist’s Pick, 2026

Fish Lane in South Brisbane began as Soda Water Lane, a service route for the working docks, and was renamed in 1906 after Alderman George Fish, who ran the Fish Steam Laundry nearby. It is one of only two service laneways to survive the Expo 88 redevelopment, and it was later revitalised. In 2019 ARIA Property Group established the Fish Lane Arts Precinct. Running from Grey Street near QAGOMA back towards West End, the precinct has turned the lane into an open-air gallery of murals, sculptures, lighting and galleries, alongside its bars, cafés and restaurants.

A Florist’s Pick includes native Australian flowers such as the King Protea, Golden Wattle, Bottle Brush, Banksia, Wax Flower, Marigold, and Dahlias. These are combined in a vibrant collage of cut forms bringing together nature with structural geometry in the built environment. Designed by Montana Tieppo and installed by QCAD LiveArt and students studying at Queensland College of Art & Design.
