Passing Through, 2025

Queensland Rail has recently collaborated with Queensland College of Art & Design, Griffith University to install a new painted mural at Goodna Station. Through QCAD LiveArt students designed artwork submissions for presentation and selection and worked together to install the work onsite.

‘Passing Through’ captures the vibrant tapestry of human connection within Brisbane’s transit network. The mural celebrates the collective rhythm of daily commuters—their diverse stories intersecting as they travel, pause, and move through these shared spaces.

Through simplified, overlapping human forms and limbs, the design visualises the complexity of these intersecting journeys. Bold colours loosely drawn from Goodna’s native landscape connect with place and individuality, while the rhythmic interplay between forms reflects our shared experience of movement through urban space.

The resulting dynamic pattern speaks to the ways that we are simultaneously individual and connected, each following our own path while participating in the larger dance of city life. The mural transforms the transitional space into a celebration of community in motion—welcoming every traveller while honouring the energy and diversity that makes Brisbane’s stations pulse with life.
